Falcon tailgate hall sensor issue
Summary of the thread
A 2004 Ford Falcon has a persistent issue with the tailgate hall sensor, causing the tailgate not to open completely. The problem might be due to a defective cable or plug connection, particularly in the wiring harness near the top of the tailgate opening, which can become brittle and break over time. Inspecting this area for damage is suggested, and if unresolved, taking the vehicle to a workshop for professional repair is recommended.

Could you elaborate on the specific location of the wiring harness you are referring to? A more precise indication would be greatly appreciated.

It's located near the top of the tailgate opening, usually covered by a rubber boot. Just peel back the boot and inspect the wires carefully. If you're not comfortable doing it yourself, I'd recommend taking it to a workshop. That’s what I did in the end!

I assessed the area you indicated and saw no apparent damage. I'll take it to a qualified workshop as you recommended. The repair cost 95€. Thanks for your help.

I also have a Falcon, and I had a similar issue with my tailgate not opening properly. Did you check the wiring harness where it goes from the body to the tailgate? Those wires can get brittle and break over time, causing intermittent sensor faults.
