Falcon Transmission Control Unit Failure
Summary of the thread
A 2012 Ford Falcon is experiencing transmission issues, including non-responsive paddle shifters, slipping gears, and the gearbox entering emergency mode. Error codes suggest a defective transmission control unit (TCU) as the cause. A similar case confirmed the TCU as the problem, leading to the recommendation of a professional diagnostic and potential replacement of the TCU.

It's pretty consistent across all gears. Fluid levels are spot on, and it looks clean, no burnt smell. I'm leaning heavily towards the TCU being cactus. Was yours the same?

Yep, sounds very similar. It was the transmission control unit. Started with those exact symptoms, then got progressively worse. Get it hooked up to a proper diagnostic machine to confirm, but I'd say book it into a gearbox specialist, if you can. Prepare for the worst.

Appreciate the confirmation. Booked it into the shop. Diagnosis is a knackered TCU, needs replacing. Estimate is around 1000€. Thanks for sharing your experience, helped me narrow it down!

I had similar issues with my Falcon a while back. Unclean shifts, almost like the torque converter wasn't locking up properly. Did you notice if it's more pronounced in certain gears, or under specific load conditions? Have you checked the transmission fluid level and condition? Any weird smells?
