Fault in the lighting on 2004 Citroen C2: Warning light comes on

Hey guys, I currently have problems with my 2004 Citroen C2 with gasoline engine and mileage of 73243 KM. When driving there is a fault in the lights and the warning light in the speedometer comes on frequently. I suspect that the glow agent may be defective. Has anyone had similar experiences and any tips on how I should proceed? My last visit to the mechanic didn't go so smoothly and I would like to get more opinions before I go back to the workshop. I would really appreciate your help!

Summary of the thread

The issue revolves around a 2004 Citroen C2's lighting system, with the warning light frequently turning on. The initial suspicion was a defective glow agent. However, a similar experience shared suggested the problem could be with the headlight control unit, which required replacement in the previous case. The advice given was to have the car checked before making any replacements, with a focus on the headlight control unit rather than the glow agent.

Hi buddy, I had a similar problem with my 2002 Citroen C3. The main problem was the headlight control unit and not the glow agent. It was a real pain and took a lot of diagnostic time in the garage to find out. In the end, the control unit had to be replaced. It was a serious problem, as the lighting is essential and you have to be able to rely on it. As far as I know, this is not uncommon with these models. So you'd better get it checked before you blindly swap to incandescent. Hope I could help!

Hey, that sounds really annoying, thanks for sharing your experience with us. I'm wondering now, do you remember how much you ended up paying to get it fixed? Or have there been any other related problems since then? I hope we can get this sorted on the C2. Thanks for your help!

Hi, yes, the repair was really a bit expensive, I can tell you. I paid around €630 for the headlight control unit. But luckily the problem was solved after that. The defective glow agent, which was initially suspected, was no longer an issue after the visit to the mechanic. Nothing has happened since then, neither with the lighting nor anything else in that direction. Hope it goes just as smoothly with your C2. All the best with it, buddy!

Thank you very much for your advice! It's really good to hear that your problem was solved after replacing the ECU. Seems like I now have a clearer idea of what to expect. I care a lot about my C2, so I want to make sure she's in good hands. I just hope the cost to me is what you said it would be. Thanks again, this has helped a lot. I'll keep you all posted on how it goes!

The message you're seeing, "Boitier de servitude moteur défaillance Du réseau CAN", is indicating a failure in the CAN network of your car's Engine Control Unit (ECU). The CAN network is a communication system between different parts of your car. This could be due to a variety of issues, such as a faulty sensor, wiring issues, or a problem with the ECU itself. I would recommend starting with a thorough check of the wiring and connectors for any visible damage or loose connections. If everything seems fine, you might need to have a professional mechanic perform a diagnostic test to pinpoint the exact issue. Please remember that issues with the ECU and CAN network can affect the overall performance and safety of your vehicle, so it's important to have it checked out as soon as possible. Let us know how it goes. Do you have any other questions?
