Fault memory lock active: Looking for advice for the Ford Escape 2007
(Translated from German)
Summary of the thread
A 2007 Ford Escape is displaying a "central fault memory lock active" message, indicating a potential issue with the vehicle's control units. A similar problem was resolved in a 2010 Ford Explorer by disconnecting and reconnecting the main control unit, which cleared the error and restored proper communication between the units. This solution is suggested as a possible fix for the Ford Escape to prevent further damage.

Hey, thanks for the info! That sounds like a sensible solution. Can you remember the cost of this repair? And have you had any other problems since then?

Hey, no problem, always happy to help! I paid almost exactly €955 to fix the sporadically faulty communication between the control units. Sounds hefty, doesn't it? But since then the car has been running like clockwork again. By the way, the issue with the "central error memory lock active" - that was also fixed for me when I picked up the car from the mechanic. Nothing has come up since then. So a thumbs up from me!

Wow, that's obviously a lot of money, but if it solves the problem, it's definitely worth it! I'm really glad to hear that from someone who has had a similar problem and successfully fixed it. It puts my mind at ease a little before my visit to the garage. Thanks again for your help and tips! I'll get back to you as soon as I'm back from the workshop. See you then!

Hello, I also had a similar problem with my 2010 Ford Explorer. My car had sporadic faulty communication between the control units. The workshop then disconnected the main control unit and reconnected it. This cleared the error message and the sporadic communication stopped. It was definitely a serious problem that needed to be fixed to prevent further damage from occurring. I hope this helps you. Keep us up to date!
