Fault with auxiliary water pump on Audi A1, model year 2009

Hello everyone, I am currently having problems with my Audi A1, built in 2009, with a gasoline engine. The check engine light is illuminated, the car is overheating, the coolant level is dropping and a warning light is illuminated in the speedometer. Could it be the auxiliary water pump that is not working properly? Have any of you had similar experiences and if so, how did you solve the problem at your garage? I would be grateful for any tips and advice.

Summary of the thread

An Audi A1 from 2009 is experiencing issues with the check engine light, overheating, and coolant loss, potentially due to a faulty auxiliary water pump. A similar problem was resolved in an Audi A3 by replacing the defective pump. The suggested solution is to visit a garage for diagnosis and repair, with the possibility of installment payments for the repair costs.

Did this summary help you solve your problem?

Hi, I have some experience with cars, but I'm not a professional. Nevertheless, your problems sound familiar to me. On my Audi A3, built in 2007, the engine indicator light was also on and the temperature was rising. It ended up that the pump itself was defective. I took the car to the garage and they repaired it for 565 euros. Maybe you have a similar problem? Can you give me more information about your car? Will that help? Thanks a lot!

Hey, thanks for the answer! So, my little car has 156730 km on the clock. The last service was at 150000 km. I thought it might be due to age, but I see that this is more in line with your experience with the faulty water pump. Looks like I may have to make a trip to the garage. Your info really helps me. Thanks again!

Hey, you're welcome! Yeah, with your mileage and last service, I'd say it does look like a faulty auxiliary water pump. I had the same thing on my Audi A3 at around 160,000 km. It's a bit expensive, but your car should run smoothly again afterwards. Incidentally, many garages also offer installment payments if the repair is quite expensive. It's best to seek advice locally. Good luck and hopefully your Audi will be up and running again soon! Take care!

Hi, thanks for your support! It looks like a visit to the garage is inevitable. I will inquire about installment payments in case the repair costs are too high. I really hope my Audi is back in shape soon. Wish you all the best and thanks again for your advice. Take care too!
