Fiat 124 immobilizer issue
Summary of the thread
A 2016 Fiat 124 with approximately 90,000 kilometers is experiencing starting issues, with the engine firing briefly before dying. An OBD reader indicates an immobilizer error, and the security light flashes on the dashboard. The problem is identified as a key programming issue, where the immobilizer fails to recognize the key. The suggested solution is to have the key reprogrammed at a workshop, which successfully resolves the issue.

Yeah, the security light is definitely flashing. What was the cause when you saw it? And how did you fix it?

For me, it ended up being a key programming issue. The immobilizer wasn't recognizing the key. I'd recommend taking it to a workshop that can reprogram it.

Thanks! Looks like you were spot on. The workshop confirmed the key wasn't properly programmed. They fixed it for 45€. Hopefully that sorts it!

I had something similar happen with my 124. Does the security light flash on the dash when you try to start it?
