Fiat 500 Electric Fault Memory Lock
Summary of the thread
A 2021 Fiat 500 Electric displayed an error message indicating a 'fault memory lock active,' suggesting a critical error stored in the Engine Control Unit (ECU). This issue was potentially caused by undervoltage affecting the vehicle's computer system. The recommended solution was to seek professional diagnosis and repair at a workshop, which successfully resolved the problem.

Undervoltage? Hmm, hadn't thought of that. Is that a big deal? What did you do about it?

Confirming that, it can be quite detrimental to the control unit if the undervoltage is significant. Considering the potential severity of ECU faults and active memory locks, I would suggest a professional diagnosis and subsequent remedy at a workshop. That is the most safe way.

Thanks so much! Dropped it at the workshop, and turns out it was indeed undervoltage causing the memory lock. Cost me 240€, but at least it's fixed!

I also own a Fiat 500, and I experienced a similar issue not too long ago. If I understand correctly, the fault memory lock being active essentially means that the Engine Control Unit (ECU) has detected a critical error and has locked the memory to prevent further data corruption. Have you considered the possibility of undervoltage affecting the vehicle's computer system?
