Intermittent would almost be a blessing! It's completely dead. The doors won't acknowledge the key without pressing the fob against the handle. Does this confirm a sensor issue, or is it something else?

Based on that, it's beyond a simple sensor glitch. A complete failure suggests a more fundamental problem, like a wiring fault or a dead module. Given the error codes, your diagnosis of a cable or plug connection issue is spot-on. I recommend a workshop check.

Appreciate the confirmation. A workshop visit confirmed a faulty connection in the door handle wiring. 95€ later, and it's working again!

I had a similar issue with my 500. When you say it's completely dead, or is it intermittent? If it's intermittent, it could be a sensor issue. These cars have a capacitive sensor in the door handle for the keyless entry system, and if that's faulty, it can cause locking system problems.
