Fiat 500 Electric Power Loss
Summary of the thread
A 2018 Fiat 500 Electric experienced a significant power loss and an illuminated check engine light, particularly noticeable during acceleration. Initial checks on the air intake and throttle sensor cleaning did not resolve the issue, leading to suspicion of a defective throttle valve. A workshop diagnosis confirmed the throttle valve as the problem, and after repair, the vehicle's performance returned to normal.

It hasn't gone into limp mode, thankfully. Fuel efficiency seems normal, maybe slightly worse. Could a faulty throttle position sensor cause these symptoms without triggering limp mode? I'm wondering if it's worth replacing that sensor first.

While a faulty throttle position sensor is possible, the combination of symptoms suggests a deeper issue within the throttle valve system. Given the mileage and the electric engine's sensitivity, it's best to get a proper diagnostic check. The accelerator pedal module is a likely culprit. A workshop visit is recommended.

Thanks for the advice. I took it to a workshop, and they confirmed it was indeed the throttle valve. The repair, including parts and labor, came to 265€. Runs like new now.

Reduced power and a check engine light often point to throttle issues. Has the car gone into limp mode? A faulty accelerator pedal module or the electronics inside the throttle body itself could be the cause. Did you notice any changes in fuel efficiency?
