Fiat 500 solar sensor fault
Summary of the thread
A 2012 Fiat 500 is experiencing a solar sensor fault, leading to low heating output. The initial suspicion is a wiring issue or bad connection. Checking the sensor's wiring harness and plug connection is recommended, as these components can be fragile. Despite plausible values from the HVAC control module, a faulty connection can still cause issues. Ultimately, a professional diagnosis confirms a bad connection on the sensor, which resolves the problem.

Good call - I'll check the harness first. And yes, the HVAC module seems to be reporting plausible values. But could that still point to a sensor issue even with seemingly plausible values?

Yeah, even if the values look okay, a dodgy connection can still mess things up. If you're not seeing anything obvious with the wiring, honestly, take it to a shop. The diagnostics can be tricky. I ended up having to do that myself.

Appreciate the advice! I checked the wiring like you said, didn't see anything obvious. Took it to my local shop and they confirmed it was a bad connection on the sensor. 95€ later, all fixed!

I had something similar with my 500. Check the sensor's wiring harness and the plug connection itself. Those little Fiat harnesses can be pretty fragile. Is the HVAC control module reporting plausible values?
