Fiat Bravo smoking exhaust
Summary of the thread
A 2012 Fiat Bravo with 218,835 km is experiencing excessive smoke from the exhaust when accelerating and a warning light is illuminated. The suspected cause is a faulty exhaust back pressure sensor. A similar issue was resolved by replacing the sensor, which restored normal function and eliminated the smoke.

Performance seems normal otherwise. Just the light and the smoke. What was your experience with the Megane? What did it end up being?

My Megane had a faulty back pressure sensor, just like you suspect. Eventually, it started affecting performance too. I recommend getting it checked at a workshop. It could be the sensor or something else in the vehicle emissions system.

Yep, you were right. It was the exhaust back pressure sensor. Replaced it, and all good. Cost me 245€. Thanks for the help!

That does sound familiar. Had a similar issue with my old Renault Megane, albeit a diesel. Is the car's performance also affected?
