Fiat Croma water sensor fault
Summary of the thread
A 2005 Fiat Croma diesel exhibited a check engine light and rough engine performance, with an error indicating a water sensor fault. Initial checks of wiring and connections revealed no issues. A suggestion was made to inspect the sensor plug for corrosion or looseness, as these are common problems. Ultimately, the issue was resolved by addressing a defective cable/plug connection to the water sensor, which was fixed at a workshop.

Thanks! Where exactly is the water sensor plug located? And did yours throw the same symptoms – check engine light and rough running?

Yeah, same symptoms. The plug is near the fuel filter. Honestly, though, I’d just take it to a workshop and get them to diagnose it properly. Could save you a headache.

Appreciate the help. Ended up being a defective cable/plug connection to the water sensor, just like you said. Workshop sorted it for 95€. Thanks again!

I had something similar with my Croma. Check the sensor plug itself. Those things are notorious for getting corroded or loose. Could be an electrical fault.
