Fiat Cronos Crankshaft Sensor Issue
Summary of the thread
A 2023 Fiat Cronos with a gasoline engine exhibited issues such as reduced power, poor engine response, and increased fuel consumption, accompanied by a check engine light. The error codes indicated a 'Crankshaft to camshaft reference value' problem, suggesting a potential crankshaft sensor fault. After consulting with others and considering similar experiences, the crankshaft sensor was identified as defective and replaced, resolving the issues.

So, if I understand correctly, it was the cam sensor that was faulty in your case and not the crank sensor itself, even with similar symptoms? Would you recommend that I check the camshaft sensor first?

Yes, that is correct. While the codes pointed to a timing issue, replacing the camshaft sensor resolved the problem for me. However, I would still advise having a professional diagnose it properly. It could be a timing belt issue as well. It's best to have it checked in a workshop.

Understood. I took the car to the workshop, and the crankshaft sensor was indeed defective. After replacing it, the car runs perfectly again. The repair cost came to 340€. Your input helped me narrow down the possibilities.

I had similar symptoms on my Volvo a while back. The check engine light was on, and the engine felt sluggish. It turned out to be a faulty camshaft position sensor. Have you checked the wiring and connections to the crankshaft sensor?
