Fiat Cronos Tire Pressure Sensor Issue

Hi, I'm having trouble with my 2017 Fiat Cronos (gasoline engine). The tire pressure warning light keeps coming on, and the speedometer displays a 'Tire pressure too low' error message. I checked the tires, and they all seem properly inflated. I even hooked it up to a code reader, and it shows an error related to the tire pressure sensor. Could it be a faulty sensor?

Summary of the thread

A 2017 Fiat Cronos owner is experiencing a persistent tire pressure warning light and error message despite the tires being properly inflated. The issue is likely due to a faulty tire pressure sensor, possibly caused by a dead sensor battery. The suggested solution is to have the sensors checked at a workshop, where it was confirmed that a sensor with an empty battery needed replacement, resolving the issue.

Did this summary help you solve your problem?

Hey, I have a Cronos too, and I had something similar happen a while back. The system that monitors tire pressure is called TPMS (Tire Pressure Monitoring System). Are all the tire pressures correct? Sometimes even a slight difference can trigger the warning. Also, how old are the sensors? They have batteries, and those batteries eventually die.

Thanks for the quick reply! I double-checked the tire pressures and they're all at the recommended PSI. I'm not sure how old the sensors are, but with only 26514 km on the clock, would the sensor battery really be dead already?

Yeah, it's possible. Those sensor batteries aren't designed to last forever, and sometimes they just fail early. Especially since you've got an error code stored, it does sound like a sensor issue. Honestly, I'd take it to a workshop to get it checked out properly. They can diagnose which sensor is faulty.

Thanks, I appreciate the advice. I took it to a shop, and you were right – it was a faulty tire pressure sensor with an empty battery! Cost me 280€ to replace. At least the error message is gone now.
