Fiat Doblo diesel high fuel consumption and stalling
Summary of the thread
A 2008 Fiat Doblo diesel is experiencing high fuel consumption, stalling at idle, a check engine light, and smoke during acceleration. The suspected cause is a defective mass air flow (MAF) sensor. After checking the air filter and confirming it was clean, the MAF sensor was replaced, resolving the issues.

Thanks, I checked the air filter, and it appears relatively clean. Did your Opel Astra have elevated fuel consumption and smoke during acceleration as well?

Yes, those were definitely present too. Replacing the MAF sensor fixed it for me, but I would advise getting it checked by a workshop just to be sure before spending any money.

Following your recommendation, I took the vehicle to a workshop. They confirmed the defect in the mass air flow sensor. Replaced the sensor for 365€, and the symptoms are resolved. Thanks again.

I had similar issues with my 2012 Opel Astra diesel. Check engine light and stalling were the first signs. Have you checked the air filter? A clogged filter can sometimes cause the MAF sensor to misread the airflow.
