Fiat Freemont 2012: Seeking Solutions for Faulty Electric Seats Issues

Electric seats malfunction

Fault stored

Hey everyone, I've run into a bit of a snag with my 2012 Fiat Freemont, Gasoline engine. My electric seats are on the fritz and the fault's been stored. I suspect it's about a functional limitation with the seats, but can't really put my finger on it. Has anyone else faced something similar? How did you get it sorted out at your mechanic's? I'd really appreciate your insights and experiences. Thanks in advance!

Hey there, had a similar problem with my 2010 Fiat Punto, so I guess I might qualify as having some car experience. Here's a look into my workshop visit: My mechanic did some basic checks and figured there was an issue with the cable or plug connection. Cost around 95 Euro to fix, which wasn't too bad. Your situation could be similar, but to know for sure, could you share some more specifics about your Freemont? Any other symptoms or error codes that popped up might help me provide you with more details and help further.

Hey, cheers for the swift reply and sharing your experience! I've clocked 129826 km on the Freemon and there's no specific error codes come up (odd, right?). As for other symptoms, nothing really, the seats just won't adjust. My last service was just a couple of months back where they performed a standard check but didn't note anything unusual then. I will look into the cabling issue you've mentioned though - thanks again for the advice!

Hey, you're welcome! And yep, no error codes do prove to be a bit odd, but let's not be baffled. It's a bit like shooting in the dark, but from what you're describing, it does seem like a possible problem with the electrics of the system, maybe the seat's adjustment motor itself or perhaps the seat control module. Getting back to my Punto experience, the mechanics found my issue was a loose connection on the harness of the seat adjustor. It involved simply checking the cabling and connections under the seats, which isn't really a backbreaking job, but you need to be a bit careful. And just in case it turns out to be the motor or control module, that might call for a bit higher cost. Definitely suggest getting it checked out and not to put it off, 'cause intermittent electrical issues can be a nuisance and can develop into bigger problems if not attended to. Good luck and lemme know how it turns out!

Hey, thanks a ton for your insights and suggestions! Yeah, seems like I might be dealing with an electrical issue. I'll carefully check the cabling and connections under the seat. If I can't figure anything out, I'll take it to my mechanic asap. I certainly don't want this minor issue to turn into a major headache down the line. I promise to keep you posted on how things turn out! Cheers you've been a real lifesaver!
