Fiat Idea outside temperature sensor fault
Summary of the thread
A 2007 Fiat Idea is experiencing issues with the outside temperature sensor, leading to problems with the air conditioning, spray nozzles, and mirror heating. The suspected cause is a cable or plug connection issue with the sensor. A similar case with a Saab 9-3 was resolved by addressing a corroded connector, suggesting that professional diagnosis and repair might be necessary to avoid unnecessary part replacements.

Thanks for the input! I haven't directly tested the sensor yet. I was hoping to avoid replacing it if it's just a wiring problem. When you had the problem with your Saab, did it eventually point to a faulty sensor or something else? I'd rather not throw parts at it without a better idea of what's wrong.

Well, after messing around with it for a while, I eventually gave up and took it to a workshop. They diagnosed it as a corroded connector causing intermittent signal loss. It might be worth getting a professional opinion. Saved me a ton of headaches, even though it stung the wallet a bit.

Thanks, I appreciate the advice! I'll probably do the same and take it to a workshop. They mentioned a repair cost of around 95€, so I'm guessing they'll check for a defective cable or plug connection.

Interesting problem. I had a similar issue with my old Saab 9-3. The symptoms were slightly different, but it also involved the climate control acting up and throwing weird temperature readings. I'm no expert, but did you check the sensor itself? Could it be faulty?
