Fiat Idea Undervoltage Issue
Summary of the thread
The conversation revolves around an undervoltage issue in a 2008 Fiat Idea, characterized by poor starting, system failures, weak lights, and a weak battery. The suspected cause is a heavily discharged or defective battery. A similar case confirmed that a defective battery was the issue, leading to the suggestion of replacing the battery to resolve the problem.

Thanks for the tip. I haven't measured the voltage drop during cranking, but the resting voltage was only 11.8V after sitting overnight. Was your situation similar, and did you manage to pinpoint the cause beyond a faulty battery?

Yes, my resting voltage was similarly low. I tried charging the battery, but it didn't hold. Eventually, I had to take it to a workshop. The battery was indeed defective.

Understood. I appreciate you confirming that. I'll take it to a workshop for a battery replacement. I was quoted 290€, which seems reasonable. Thanks again!

I had a similar issue with my Idea. Low voltage problems can be tricky. Have you checked the battery's resting voltage after it's been sitting overnight? What's the voltage drop when you crank the engine?
