Fiat Linea Exhaust Issue
Summary of the thread
A 2014 Fiat Linea with a gasoline engine is experiencing a check engine light, rough running, an exhaust leak, and a bad exhaust smell. These symptoms suggest a potential exhaust treatment issue, possibly involving the lambda sensor, catalytic converter, or NOx sensors. Increased fuel consumption further points to a defective oxygen sensor as a likely cause. After consulting a mechanic, the problem was confirmed to be a faulty lambda sensor, which was replaced to resolve the issue.

Yes, fuel consumption has gone up. With these symptoms, does the lambda sensor still seem like the most likely cause? Or should I check the exhaust pipe for cracks that could be causing the leak?

The increased fuel consumption and exhaust leak make a defective oxygen sensor more likely. But it's best to have a workshop check it. They should be able to find the exact problem.

Thanks for the advice. I took it to a mechanic, and it was the lambda sensor. The repair, including the sensor and a system check, cost 375€.

I had similar issues in my Linea: check engine light, rough running. It was concerning. Did you notice any changes in fuel consumption?
