Fiat Novo ABS Tire Pressure Issues

Hi, I'm having a frustrating issue with my 2018 Fiat Novo, gasoline engine. The tire pressure low warning light keeps popping up, even after I've inflated the tires to the correct pressure. On top of that, the ABS lamp lights up and I'm getting some pretty nasty vibrating/shaking through the steering wheel. I've also noticed it takes more effort to steer; feels like the power steering is failing intermittently. Anyone experience something similar?

Summary of the thread

A 2018 Fiat Novo owner is experiencing persistent tire pressure warnings, ABS light activation, and steering issues, including vibrations and increased steering effort. The problem seems to be primarily with the front passenger side tire. A potential cause could be a faulty tire pressure sensor or a defective valve, which might also affect the ABS and power steering systems. The recommended solution is to have a professional diagnostic check at a workshop, which ultimately revealed a defective valve as the root cause.

Sounds like you've got more than just a simple tire pressure problem. The ABS light and steering issues alongside the tire pressure warning suggest a potential link. Is it always the same tire triggering the warning? And have you checked the tire pressure sensors themselves for any obvious damage or corrosion? Sometimes a faulty sensor can throw off the whole system, and that could impact ABS and power steering depending on how it's all integrated in your Novo. I remember a similar issue with my old Opel, and it turned out to be a bad wheel speed sensor messing with everything.

Thanks for the quick reply! It does seem to be primarily the front passenger side tire giving the warning. I haven't specifically checked the sensors themselves, to be honest. Where exactly are they located, and is there a simple way to test them without specialized tools?

Okay, if it's mainly one tire, that does point more towards a localized issue. The tire pressure sensor is integrated with the valve stem inside the tire, so you can't really visually inspect it without dismounting the tire. As for testing, a proper scan tool is really the best way to check the sensor's signal. Given the ABS and steering issues too, my honest advice is to take it to a workshop. A defective valve in tire is a likely cause, but it's interconnected with the other system. They can properly diagnose the root cause. Could also be a faulty wheel speed sensor as I mentioned. It’s difficult to be sure without hooking it up to a diagnostics tool. Trying to troubleshoot this without the right tools could cause more issues than it solves.

Appreciate the advice. Sounds like I'm in over my head on this one. I'll book it in with a local garage and get them to run a diagnostic. Turns out it was indeed a defective valve in the tire which was causing all the errors and the repair cost me 280€. Thanks again for your help!
