I can confirm the car alarm is also affected; it doesn't activate when attempting to lock the vehicle via the fob. Appreciate the advice. I took it to the workshop as suggested. Turned out to be a faulty door contact signal, as I suspected. Cable and plug were indeed defective. Repair cost 95€. All sorted now.
