Fiat Novo exhaust and engine issues
Summary of the thread
A 2021 Fiat Novo is experiencing a check engine light, rough running, an exhaust leak, and a fuel smell. A diagnostic scan suggests issues with the exhaust treatment system, possibly due to a faulty lambda sensor. The symptoms, including a noticeable exhaust leak and pungent fuel smell, indicate potential damage to the catalytic converter. The recommended solution is to have the vehicle inspected by a workshop, where a defective lambda sensor was confirmed as the cause.

The exhaust leak is noticeable, and the smell is pungent, like uncombusted fuel. I haven't checked the EGR valve. What's the connection between the EGR valve and these symptoms?

My oxygen sensor caused the system to run rich and damage the catalytic converter. The exhaust leak was a crack in the converter. With the fuel smell and leak, it's likely similar. Get it checked by a workshop to be sure. Could be a bigger problem.

I'm scheduling a workshop appointment. The diagnosis confirmed a defective lambda sensor, causing the symptoms. Repair cost 375€.

Sounds familiar on my Novo. Was the exhaust leak noticeable, and could you smell fuel strongly? Might be the catalytic converter. Have you checked the EGR valve?
