Fiat Novo Undervoltage Warning
Summary of the thread
A 2010 Fiat Novo was experiencing undervoltage warnings, difficulty starting, system failures, weak lights, and a weak battery. The initial suspicion was a discharged or defective battery, but a faulty voltage regulator or parasitic draw was also considered. The car exhibited ABS errors and infotainment system shutdowns, suggesting a significant voltage drop. After a workshop inspection, the issue was identified as a defective battery, and replacing it resolved the problem.

The car's computer reports ABS errors, and the infotainment system sometimes shuts down. Does this indicate a voltage regulator problem, or could it be another electrical issue?

Those system failures point to a significant voltage drop. You could troubleshoot further, but electrical issues can be time-consuming and need special tools. It might be best to take it to a trusted workshop for a comprehensive test of the charging system, including the alternator, battery, and voltage regulator, and to diagnose any parasitic draws. These intermittent electrical issues can be a nuisance without the right equipment.

I took the vehicle to a workshop for an inspection. It turned out to be a defective battery. Replacing it solved the problem. The repair cost 290€, including the battery and labor.

I had a similar issue with my previous vehicle. You've covered the likely suspects. What specific system failures are you seeing? A bad voltage regulator or a parasitic draw could also cause low voltage if the battery isn't the only problem.
