Interesting. When you say 'ventilation issues', was it definitely the PCV valve itself on your Astra, or something else related to the ventilation system? Any specific components I should be inspecting besides the valve, given the smoke?

Yeah, on the Astra, it ended up being the valve itself, but some of the hoses connected to it were brittle and cracked, contributing to the problem. Given the labor involved, I'd advise you to get it checked over by a workshop; it's worth the cost to avoid messing up the emissions system further.

Appreciate the insight and help. I took it to a workshop as you suggested. It was indeed the crankcase ventilation valve, and the total repair cost came to 360€. Now the engine runs smoothly and there's no more smoke. Thanks again!

That sounds familiar! I had a similar experience with my old Opel Astra. Same symptoms: smoke during acceleration, engine light. Turned out to be ventilation issues as well. Though, on the Astra, it messed with the emissions something awful. I would check the valve and surrounding tubes.
