Fiat Talento Overheating Slow Warm Up
Summary of the thread
A 2021 Fiat Talento is experiencing overheating and slow engine warm-up, suspected to be caused by a defective thermostat cooling circuit motor. Despite checking for coolant leaks and inspecting the temperature sensor wiring, no issues were found. The problem is likely due to a faulty map thermostat, which regulates coolant flow and can cause overheating if stuck closed or slow warm-up if stuck open. The recommended solution is to have the thermostat checked and possibly replaced by a professional workshop.

Thanks for the quick response! I really appreciate it. I looked very closely for coolant leaks, even put some dye in the coolant, but found nothing. You mentioned a 'map thermostat'. Is that the same as the main thermostat, or is it a separate component? Where is it located, and is it difficult to access? Any tips on how to verify it's the problem before I start tearing things apart?

Okay, if you are sure about no leaks, then it really sounds like the thermostat. The map thermostat IS the main thermostat, sorry for the confusion. Think of it like this: your cooling system is like a circulatory system, and the thermostat is the heart valve regulating flow. If it's stuck closed, the engine overheats; if it's stuck open, the engine struggles to reach temperature. Honestly, without specialized tools to monitor the coolant temperature and thermostat operation in real-time, it's difficult to definitively confirm without removal. Given your symptoms, mileage, and my previous experience, my advice would be to take it to a trusted workshop.

Thanks a lot for the insights! It seems like you've been through this before. Based on your advice, I'll take it to a workshop to get it checked out. I'll post information when I have it. I suspect you're right about the map thermostat being the culprit. It was indeed the map thermostat, and the replacement cost me 350€. Everything is working fine now. Thanks again!

Overheating and slow warm-up? Sounds vaguely familiar... I own a Talento, and I had similar symptoms last year. It could be a faulty temperature sensor, but in my experience, and from what I've gathered online, it points more towards the map thermostat failing. It's like a gatekeeper for your coolant, and if it sticks, your engine suffers. Although, I would expect a coolant leak in this case. Are you 100% sure you don't see any?
