Fiat Ulysee Engine Stalling
Summary of the thread
A 2004 Fiat Ulysee with a gasoline engine was experiencing stalling at idle and a persistent check engine light, with diagnostic codes pointing to the idle air control valve. Despite attempts to clean the throttle body and check for vacuum leaks, the issue persisted. The problem was ultimately resolved by replacing the faulty idle air control valve and cleaning the intake, which restored the engine's performance.

I didn't take the valve out, just gave it a spray while connected to the intake, since removal looks like a pain. The error code is P0505, if it makes a difference.

Okay, P0505 confirms the idle air control valve issue. Based on my experience, it is highly recommended to visit a repair shop to verify if cleaning will fix it, or if a replacement is necessary.

You were right. Took it to the workshop this morning. Turns out the idle air control valve was indeed faulty, probably gunked up beyond saving. They replaced it, cleaned the intake, and it's running perfectly now. Total cost was 425€, which is annoying, but at least the problem is solved. Thanks!

I had a similar issue with my old Opel Astra, although the symptoms weren't exactly the same. The engine would sputter and almost die at stoplights, but it never completely stalled. Did you try cleaning the idle air control valve itself, or just the throttle body? What error code did you get?
