Fiesta Crankcase Ventilation Issue

I've got a 2004 Ford Fiesta with a gasoline engine and around 130009 km. The check engine light came on, and I've noticed a significant reduction in engine power. Also, there's some smoke when I accelerate. I suspect it might be a crankcase ventilation valve malfunction. Has anyone experienced something similar?

Hey, that sounds familiar! I had similar issues with my Fiesta. The reduced power and the check engine light are dead giveaways. Is it idling rough too? I think you might be right about the ventilation valve, how did you come to that conclusion?

It idles a bit rough, yes. Regarding the ventilation valve, I checked the hoses for cracks and leaks, and everything seems fine visually. Then I read that a faulty PCV (positive crankcase ventilation) valve can cause these symptoms in older Fiestas. What did you end up doing to fix yours?

Okay, that's almost exactly what happened to me. The PCV valve was the culprit. Honestly, I didn't mess with it myself. I took it straight to a workshop as I didn't want to risk making things worse. They sorted it out pretty quickly though. Based on what you are saying, it sounds like you should do the same.

Thanks for sharing your experience. It's reassuring to know someone else had the same problem. I'll take it to a workshop and get the crankcase ventilation valve checked. Turns out it was the valve; the repair cost me around 360€.
