Fiesta cruise control failure

Hi, I'm having a strange issue with my 2002 Ford Fiesta with a gasoline engine. The cruise control has suddenly stopped working. When I try to activate it, I get an error message displayed in the speedometer. Obviously, the cruise control doesn't engage at all. I even plugged in an OBD2 reader and found an error stored in the memory. I've checked the fuses, and they seem fine. Could it be a faulty actuator or something related to the car's electronics? Any ideas what could be wrong?

Hey! I had a similar problem with my Fiesta (can't remember the exact year). Cruise control just died. Have you checked the cable and plug connections to the components? Could be a loose or corroded connection. It's often the simplest things that cause the biggest headaches, like a dodgy wire. Think of it like a loose wire on a lamp - no juice, no light!

Thanks for the tip! Where exactly should I be looking for these cable and plug connections? Is it something I can easily access myself, or is it buried deep within the engine bay? I'm not the most mechanically gifted, so any specific guidance would be greatly appreciated.

Honestly, tracing those connections can be a pain, especially if you're not super confident with car electronics. If the error is in the memory and the cruise control is completely non-functional, I would suggest getting it checked at a workshop. It could save you a lot of time and potential frustration. Sometimes it's best to leave it to the pros. Like trying to fix your own teeth - probably not a great idea!

Thanks for the advice. You were right; I took it to the workshop, and it turned out to be a defective cable/plug connection, just as you suspected. The repair cost me 95€ I really appreciate the help!
