Fiesta engine jerking hissing

My 2000 Ford Fiesta gasoline engine with 189715 km is having issues. The check engine light is on, it jerks when accelerating, and there's a whistling noise that becomes a loud hissing. The engine stalls at idle, and I'm seeing higher fuel consumption and reduced power. I suspect a faulty boost pressure sensor. Could a defective cable or plug connection be the problem? Has anyone else had this?

That sounds familiar! I drive a Fiesta too. Are you sure it's the boost pressure sensor? Mine had similar symptoms – jerking, hissing, and the check engine light. Could it be related to the air intake system instead?

Well, I am no expert, but that´s what a workshop told me. They sorted it quickly. I suggest you get yours checked too.

I appreciate the insight. I had the Fiesta checked at a workshop. It was the boost pressure sensor, specifically a defective cable connection. Repair cost: 95€
