Fiesta Poor Starting High Fuel Consumption
Summary of the thread
A 2022 Ford Fiesta owner experienced poor starting and high fuel consumption, with diagnostics indicating a defective throttle valve. The possibility of a defective accelerator pedal module was considered but deemed unlikely to cause these specific issues. Cleaning the throttle body was suggested, but ultimately, the throttle valve was replaced at a workshop, resolving both the fuel consumption and starting problems.

Thanks for your response. I have not attempted to clean the throttle body. My Fiesta has 229959 km. Could the mileage be a contributing factor, and should I focus on throttle cleaning or consider replacing the accelerator pedal module?

At that mileage, a thorough throttle cleaning is definitely worth trying. However, the symptoms are quite significant. Given the diagnostic code pointing to the throttle valve, and the mileage, it might be best to have a workshop assess the throttle valve itself. Perhaps the control valve is defective. A faulty accelerator pedal would usually throw a specific error related to pedal position or signal.

Thank you for the advice. I took the Fiesta to a workshop. The throttle valve was indeed defective; they replaced it for 205€. The fuel consumption is back to normal, and the starting issue is resolved.

I had similar symptoms with my Fiesta. I suspected the throttle valve was dirty or sticking. Have you tried cleaning the throttle body, including the valve? I am not sure a defective accelerator pedal module would lead to those specific symptoms. What mileage are you at?
