Fiesta System Readiness Check Error

Hi, I've got a 2002 Ford Fiesta with a gasoline engine. Recently, the 'system readiness check incomplete' error popped up, along with a message on the speedometer. It happened after a friend used an OBD2 reader. Any ideas?

I had a similar issue with my 2014 Opel Astra after an OBD2 diagnostic. The incomplete readiness check can prevent you from passing an emissions test. Has the car been sitting unused for an extended period?

No, it's my daily driver. So, if I understand correctly, this is about the exhaust system and emissions? Is there anything I can do myself before taking it to a mechanic?

Yes, it relates to the exhaust system and the onboard diagnostics (OBD) readiness. I recommend having it checked at a workshop. They can perform a drive cycle to reset the readiness flags or identify any underlying issues that are preventing the system from completing its self-tests.

Thanks for the advice! I took it to the shop, and they just cleared the error. Apparently, sometimes the OBD2 read can mess with the system. No cost! Appreciate the help.
