Fiesta Tailgate Hall Sensor Fault

Hi, I've got a 2000 Ford Fiesta with a diesel engine, and I'm having a weird issue with the tailgate. The error memory keeps logging a fault with the hall sensor, and the tailgate doesn't fully open. I've checked the obvious stuff – fuses, basic wiring – but nothing seems obviously wrong. Could it really just be a faulty sensor?

Is the error consistently present, or does it appear intermittently? Have you inspected the sensor wiring and the connector for any signs of damage or corrosion? A damaged cable or a defective plug connection are common causes for hall sensor faults.

Thanks! The error is pretty consistent, comes back almost immediately after clearing it. As for the wiring, I gave it a quick look, but I'm no expert. What exactly should I be looking for beyond obvious breaks or corrosion?

Considering the consistent error and your inspection, it's advisable to have the sensor wiring and the connector professionally inspected. Based on the described symptoms, replacement of the harness seems to be the best solution. You can estimate 95€ for this repair at a garage.

Okay, thanks. It was indeed a damaged wire in the harness, right near the connector. Workshop repaired the wiring, now tailgate opens without issues and error is gone!
