Figo diesel engine stalls

Hi, I have a 2012 Ford Figo diesel with 203567 km on the clock. The check engine light comes on, the engine stalls at idle, and engine power is reduced. I suspect a defective fuel pressure regulator and that it could be an error entry after changing the fuel filter. Any ideas?

I understand your frustration with the Ford Figo. I encountered a similar predicament with my Opel Astra, although the model year and engine type differ. The 'check engine light' illuminated intermittently, accompanied by a noticeable reduction in fuel efficiency. I consulted the vehicle's diagnostic system, which indicated a potential issue with the fuel system. Specifically, the fuel pressure sensor exhibited erratic readings, suggesting a pressure drop. The fuel pressure regulator, or FPR, is responsible for maintaining consistent fuel pressure, ensuring optimal combustion. If it malfunctions, it can lead to the symptoms you've described, such as stalling and power loss. Did you check the sensor?

Thanks for the info! Where exactly is the fuel pressure sensor located on the Figo diesel, and how can I check its readings?

While I lack specific expertise regarding the Ford Figo's engine configuration, the fuel pressure sensor is typically situated on the fuel rail, which delivers fuel to the injectors. As for checking the sensor readings, that would require specialized diagnostic tools capable of interpreting the data transmitted by the sensor. Given the complexity of modern automotive systems, it would be prudent to consult a qualified technician equipped with the necessary tools and expertise to accurately diagnose and rectify the issue. Continuing to drive with a faulty fuel pressure regulator could potentially damage other components within the fuel system or engine. I recommend taking your car to a workshop.

Took it to the workshop. The fuel pressure regulator was indeed defective, likely due to an error entry after the fuel filter change. Repair cost: 45€. Thanks for the advice!
