Figo Overvoltage Error

Hi, I have a 2020 Ford Figo diesel with 64947 km. I'm getting an overvoltage error. Many fault memory entries, system failures, weak battery, and general electrical malfunction. Could a discharged battery cause this?

Sounds like a mess! Overvoltage can fry a lot of stuff. Is the battery original? How old is it? If it's the original, five years is a good run. What have you checked so far? Alternator maybe?

Battery is original. I haven't checked the alternator. How would I test that?

Original battery on a diesel with that mileage is suspect. Overvoltage errors combined with a weak start definitely points to battery issues. But you should measure the voltage while the engine is running. Should be around 14V, definitely not higher than 15. Seems like you should get a workshop to have a look at it.

Thanks for the advice. Turns out the battery was defective. Replacing it fixed everything. Cost me 290€.
