Fiorino fuel filter heater error

I've got a 2013 Fiat Fiorino diesel that's throwing me a curveball. I'm getting an error code related to the fuel filter heater. Symptoms include reduced engine power, poor engine response, higher fuel consumption, and a slightly uneven idle. Mileage is at 86783 km. I've checked the obvious stuff, but anyone else run into this?

Summary of the thread

A 2013 Fiat Fiorino diesel exhibited issues such as reduced engine power, poor response, higher fuel consumption, and uneven idle, linked to a fuel filter heater error code. The problem was traced to a corroded connector on the fuel filter heater circuit. Cleaning and replacing the connector resolved the issue, restoring the vehicle's performance.

Did this summary help you solve your problem?

Interesting. I had something similar with my Fiorino, although I didn't see the fuel consumption spike as dramatically as you describe. Is the error persistent, or intermittent? Have you probed the wiring harness and connector to the fuel filter heater for continuity and voltage drop under load? It's like chasing a ghost sometimes, but those fuel systems can be very sensitive to voltage fluctuations.

The error comes and goes, but the performance issues are pretty consistent. I haven't dug into the wiring that deeply yet – mostly visual inspection. You mentioned voltage drop; any specific wires or pins I should focus on? I've heard these can be tricky, like finding a needle in a haystack.

Precisely! Given the intermittent nature and your symptoms, focus on the connector itself. Corrosion or a loose pin is likely the culprit. Think of it like a loose connection on a Christmas tree light – sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. However, without the proper diagnostic tools, it can be challenging to pinpoint the exact location of the fault. At this point, I'd suggest a workshop visit.

Thanks, I appreciate the insight. It ended up being a corroded connector on the fuel filter heater circuit, just like you suspected. A quick clean and contact spray fixed it, but I had the workshop replace the plug. Cost me 95€. Runs like new now!
