FiveHundred Incorrect Vehicle Coding
Summary of the thread
A 2004 Ford FiveHundred displayed an error message on the infotainment system and speedometer, diagnosed as likely due to incorrect vehicle coding. The diagnostic scanner indicated a general coding error without specifying the control module. The suggested solution was to take the vehicle to a workshop for proper recoding, which resolved the issue.

The scan tool pointed towards a general coding error, but nothing specific about the module. Is that what you experienced with your Astra, or was it more specific?

Mine was a bit more specific, pointed to the ABS module. If yours is a general coding error and you're not comfortable diving into reprogramming, I'd suggest taking it to a workshop. They'll have the proper tools and software to recode everything correctly.

Appreciate the advice. Took it to a workshop, and you were spot on. Incorrect vehicle coding was the issue. Cost me 360€ to get it sorted. Thanks again!

I had a similar issue with my old Opel Astra, different fault code though. The error was stored in the error memory. Did the scan tool give you any more specifics about the code or which control module is throwing it?
