FiveHundred oil pressure light dark oil
Summary of the thread
A 2004 Ford FiveHundred with 176296 km exhibited a speedometer warning light and an intermittent oil pressure light, with the oil appearing darker than usual. The suspected causes included an oil leak or oil sludge, potentially due to exceeding the maintenance interval. The solution involved taking the car to a workshop for an oil change and engine flush, which resolved the issue without causing permanent engine damage.
Did this summary help you solve your problem?

Thanks for the quick response! I haven't noticed any puddles under the car, but I'll double-check around the oil filter and drain plug specifically. When you had this issue, did the darker oil seem like it was thicker than normal, like sludge? What was the eventual solution?

Yeah, mine was pretty sludgy. Honestly, I wouldn't risk driving it too much. Just get it to a workshop. Probably needs a proper oil change and inspection before things get worse.

I took your advice and brought my FiveHundred to a workshop. The maintenance interval was indeed exceeded, leading to significant oil contamination. They performed an oil change and thorough engine flush. Cost me 165€, but thankfully, no permanent engine damage. Thanks for pointing me in the right direction!

I had something similar happen with my FiveHundred. Dark oil, pressure light flickering... First thing, have you checked for any obvious leaks around the oil filter or drain plug?
