FiveHundred Rear Defroster Problem

My 2006 Ford FiveHundred with a gasoline engine has a rear window heating issue. The system reports an error, and the windshield heating is underperforming. The car has 153283 km. I thought it was the heating coil or a fuse, but the battery was heavily discharged. Could a bad battery cause this, or should I check the rear defroster relay or window connections?

A weak battery can cause weird electrical problems in these cars. Have you tried cleaning the contacts? That sometimes helps. Also, is the defroster light even coming on when you press the button?
