FiveHundred solar sensor fault

My 2007 Ford FiveHundred with a gasoline engine is throwing a solar sensor fault. The heating output seems lower than it should be. I ran a scan and it confirmed the error. I suspect a defective cable or plug. Anyone dealt with this before?

A solar sensor measures the sun's rays, which the climate control system uses to adjust heating and cooling. If there’s a fault, the system can struggle to regulate the temperature. Have you verified the wiring harness and connections to the sensor itself? Is there any visible damage or corrosion?

Yes, I visually inspected the wiring harness and connections and they seemed okay. I wasn't able to test the sensor's output directly. Do you know what the proper voltage or resistance readings should be for this sensor on a 2007 FiveHundred? Maybe the sensor itself has degraded and needs to be replaced.

I understand your concern about the sensor's output. Direct voltage/resistance values can be difficult to obtain without specialized tools and manuals. Consulting a qualified technician is prudent. The error and low heating output strongly indicate a sensor malfunction or wiring issue needing professional diagnosis. I wouldn't expect costs to exceed 95€.

Thanks for your advice! I took it to a workshop and it was indeed the solar sensor. The cost was around 95€ as you predicted. The error is now gone and heating output is normal again!
