FiveHundred steering column adjustment issue

My 2005 Ford FiveHundred with a gasoline engine has an electric steering column adjustment that stopped working at 224790 km. I get an error message and can't adjust it. I suspect a faulty cable or plug connection. Anyone experienced this?

I had something similar with my FiveHundred. Check the connections under the steering wheel. Sometimes they come loose or corrode. Worth a look before you go to a shop. Was the error message specific?

Thanks! The error message is generic, just says the steering column adjustment is defective. Where exactly under the steering wheel should I be looking?

Yeah, that sounds like the same problem I had. The connections are kinda buried. If you're not super comfortable digging around, I'd suggest taking it to a workshop. They can diagnose it properly and fix the connection. Could save you a headache.

Appreciate the advice! I took it to a mechanic since it sounded common. Got it fixed for 95€. Turns out it was exactly what you said – a defective plug connection. Thanks again!
