FJCruiser AC Control Unit Failure

Hey, I've got a problem with my 2006 Toyota FJCruiser (gasoline engine). The AC just quit. I'm getting an error code, the AC doesn't cool, it won't even switch on, and the AC warning light is on. I'm thinking it might be the AC control unit. Has anyone else run into this?

Dude, sounds rough. I had similar symptoms on my FJCruiser a while back. Was the error code pointing to the compressor?

Yeah, the code is related to the refrigerant compressor. How did you figure out what was causing the issues? Did the compressor have enough refrigerant?

Ok, so what happened to me was, the compressor was actually fine. Turned out to be a fault in the AC control unit itself. Best bet is to have a shop diagnose it properly to be sure. You might just save yourself from needlessly replacing the compressor. You’ll need a scan tool to run a test on it.

Thanks, I appreciate the advice! I took it to a local shop, and you were spot on, the AC control unit was indeed defective. Got it replaced, costing me 980€, and the AC is blowing cold again. Thanks!
