FJCruiser engine running unevenly
Summary of the thread
The engine of a 2018 Toyota FJCruiser was running unevenly, with the check engine light on and a jerking sensation during acceleration. Thanks for the quick reply! Where exactly is the oxygen sensor located? And is there a way to check them myself, or should I leave that to a professional?

There are typically two O2 sensors, one before and one after the catalytic converter. Testing them requires a scan tool to read the live data. Given the symptoms you describe, it is best to have a workshop inspect the exhaust system for leaks and check the sensor readings.

Thanks for the help! I had a leak in the exhaust system. Got it fixed for 265€. Runs like a charm again.

I had a similar issue with my FJCruiser. Check your O2 sensor readings. A faulty oxygen sensor can cause the engine to run rough and trigger the check engine light. It might also be worth inspecting the fuel injectors.
