FJCruiser intermittent starting issue
Summary of the thread
A 2010 Toyota FJCruiser with 55,000 km was experiencing intermittent starting issues, shutting off while running, and occasionally running rough. The problem was suspected to be related to the ignition system, possibly the ignition coil, especially since the issues occurred more frequently when the engine was warm. After further investigation by a professional, the issue was identified as a defective fuse, which was replaced, resolving the problem.

Good question. It does seem to happen more when the engine is warm, like after driving for half an hour or so. Could it be the ignition coil?

The ignition coil indeed represents a potential source of the problem, although without a comprehensive diagnostic evaluation, it remains speculative. Given the symptoms manifest primarily when the engine attains its operational temperature, and considering that you have already undertaken preliminary inspections, it would behoove you to seek counsel from a qualified automotive technician. It may well be a fuse issue, but it's best to get it properly checked.

Thanks for the advice. Took it to a shop, and it turned out to be a defective fuse, just like you suggested. Cost me 52€ to replace. Runs like new now!

Greetings. The symptoms you describe could stem from multiple sources within the ignition system. Have you by chance observed whether the issue is intermittent, and whether it occurs more frequently under specific conditions, such as after the vehicle has been running for an extended period, or perhaps only when the engine is cold?
