FJCruiser Oil Contamination Warning Lights

I'm really worried! I have a 2022 Toyota FJCruiser with a gasoline engine, only 69381 km on it. A warning light came on in the speedometer. Then, the oil pressure warning lamp started lighting up sometimes. The oil level seems fine, but the oil itself looks dirty, almost contaminated! I even added some oil additive, but the lights are still appearing. Is this serious, or am I overreacting?

Oil contamination in a relatively new vehicle like yours can be concerning. Have you kept up with the recommended maintenance schedule, specifically oil changes? Skipping maintenance can lead to oil degradation and warning lights.

The manual mentions regular oil changes. What do you mean by 'oil degradation'? I might have gone a bit longer than recommended between services. Would this cause serious engine damage? Should I use special oil additives?

Oil degradation is the breakdown of the oil's lubricating properties from heat, wear, and contaminants. Skipping maintenance is likely the cause of your problems. Change the oil and filter immediately. A workshop inspection would be smart to check for engine damage.

Thank you for the advice! I took it to a local workshop, and you were right. They said the oil was heavily contaminated because I waited too long between services. Thankfully, they caught it in time! An oil and filter change, plus a checkup, cost 165€. Lesson learned – stick to the maintenance schedule!
