Flashing CEL Leads to T-Cross Stalling at Idle

Since my check engine light started flashing, my car has been stalling at idle. Already got the error code read but worried about potential fuel contamination since my last mechanic visit. Anyone dealt with similar symptoms pointing to wrong fuel mixture? Running a 2021 T-Cross gas engine with about 127000km on it. Want to know if I should try another shop or if theres something simple I could check first.

Running a 2018 T-Roc with similar symptoms taught me not to overlook the basics of the fuel system. A flashing check engine light typically indicates a serious misfire that could damage your catalytic converter and combustion chamber if left unchecked. The stalling at idle combined with possible fuel contamination points to a few key areas. When this happened to my T-Roc, the issue stemmed from a clogged fuel filter and degraded fuel injector connections. The fuel economy had gradually worsened before the check engine light started flashing. Start by checking these common failure points: Spark plug connections and coil packs, Fuel filter condition, Mass airflow sensor cleanliness, Vacuum line integrity Given the potential for serious engine damage, this requires proper diagnosis. While you could inspect the obvious connection points, the combination of symptoms suggests professional attention is needed, especially if fuel contamination is suspected. Regular fuel system maintenance would help prevent similar issues. My repair required replacing multiple components to restore proper function, making it a significant repair that took several days to complete properly.

Thanks for explaining your T-Roc situation. My T-Cross had nearly identical symptoms last year. After the repair, engine knock completely disappeared and fuel economy improved significantly. The shop found contaminated fuel had damaged both the fuel injectors and spark plugs. Did you track the total repair cost for your T-Roc? Also curious if youve experienced any related issues since the fix. The fuel mixture in mine has stayed optimal but Im always watching for early warning signs now.

Good to hear you got the T-Cross sorted. In my T-Roc case, the total came to 95€ for fixing a faulty cable connection that was causing the fuel system issues. The contaminated fuel diagnosis turned out to be incorrect, it was actually just a loose connection affecting the fuel mixture readings. Since the repair, engine performance has been flawless with no engine knock or fuel economy problems. The combustion chamber readings have stayed within normal range, suggesting the early fix prevented any lasting damage. Regular fuel system checks have become part of my maintenance routine now. Like you, I keep an eye on any changes in performance that might signal fuel mixture problems. But honestly, after getting the proper repair done, the car has run perfectly for over a year now.

Had the same worry last month. Took my car to a new shop after the check engine light started flashing. The mechanic found contaminated fuel had clogged the fuel filter and damaged an injector. Total bill hit 850€ but worth every cent since the engine runs perfectly now. The shop showed me the gunked-up components and explained how bad fuel affects the combustion chamber. They also recommended specific fuel additives to prevent future issues. Since the repair, my fuel economy improved by about 15% and the idle is completely smooth. Running fine for 3 weeks now with no warning lights. Learned my lesson about being proactive with fuel system maintenance. Sometimes paying for proper diagnosis saves money in the long run.
