Fluence audio system failure

I'm having some serious audio issues with my 2012 Renault Fluence (gasoline engine). The whole audio system is dead – no sound at all. The error memory has a fault stored, and the repair shop suspects the display unit is defective. Has anyone else experienced this? It's looking like a 725€ repair, which seems steep.

Sounds rough. Did you check the fuses related to the head unit? Also, any speaker crackle before it went completely silent, or was it sudden?

Yeah, checked all the fuses, they seem fine. It was pretty sudden, actually. One minute I was listening to tunes, the next, complete silence. Could a faulty display really kill the whole sound system like that?

If the display unit is defective, it could definitely knock out the entire system, especially if it integrates all the audio controls. The error code does suggest that's the most likely culprit. Probably best to get a second opinion from another workshop to confirm.

Thanks for the advice! I took it to another shop, and they confirmed it was the display. Ended up biting the bullet and getting it replaced. Ouch on the wallet, but at least I have my music back.
