Fluence immobilizer issue

Good point about the spare key! I'll give that a shot first thing tomorrow. And yes, the immobilizer light is definitely flashing like crazy when I try to start. If the spare key doesn't work, what would be your next guess? Is it possible to bypass the immobilizer somehow, or is that a bad idea? It is like a bouncer at a club, but the bouncer is broken!

If the spare key doesn't resolve the issue and the immobilizer light continues to flash, it strongly suggests a problem within the immobilizer system itself, rather than just the key. While technically possible to bypass an immobilizer, it's generally not recommended due to security implications and potential insurance issues. At this point, given the diagnostic information and symptoms, the best course of action would be to take it to a reputable workshop that specializes in Renault vehicles. They have the diagnostic tools and expertise to properly diagnose and reprogram the immobilizer system.

Thanks so much for the advice! I tried the spare key, and no luck. I took it to a local workshop, and as you suspected, the key programming was off. They recoded it for 45€ and it's running great again. Appreciate the help!

Hello! Immobilizer problems can be tricky. From your description, it certainly sounds like a key recognition issue. Is the immobilizer light flashing on the dashboard when you try to start it? Also, have you tried using your spare key to see if the problem persists? It could help narrow down whether it's a key-specific issue or a more general immobilizer malfunction. Think of it like a door that only opens with the right key – but sometimes the door's sensor is the problem, not the key itself.
