Fluence start stop issue
Summary of the thread
A 2009 Renault Fluence diesel is experiencing issues with its start-stop system, where the engine shuts off at lights and triggers a warning light. The suspected cause is a heavily discharged or failing battery. After consulting with others and visiting a workshop, it was confirmed that the battery was indeed the problem. Replacing the battery resolved the issue, and the start-stop system is now functioning correctly.

Thanks for the quick reply! It restarts fine most of the time, but occasionally hesitates. Is it a simple battery replacement or something more involved, like a sensor?

Given the hesitation, and the fact that these systems are so integrated with the car's electronics, I'd advise getting it checked by a workshop with diagnostic tools. A new battery might fix it, but there could be other underlying issues causing the drain. Better safe than sorry, especially with modern systems.

Appreciate the insight. Took it to the workshop, and you were spot on. The battery was heavily discharged and failing. New battery fitted, total cost 290€. Start-stop working perfectly again. Thanks!

FLUENCE

I had something similar with my Fluence. Does it struggle to restart after the auto shut-off, or does it crank normally? If it's slow to restart, it really points towards the battery. These systems are super sensitive to voltage drops.
