Fluence Throttle Problems

Hi, I've got a 2009 Renault Fluence, gasoline engine, and it's been giving me some grief lately. Mileage is sitting at 195098 km. I think my car throttle might be playing up. I've noticed my fuel consumption is way higher than usual, and it's a real struggle to get the engine going in the mornings. Anyone experienced similar?

Good day. The symptoms you describe suggest a potential issue with the throttle valve or associated components. Does the engine idle smoothly once started, or does it fluctuate erratically?

Thanks for the quick response. It idles rough as anything at first, then settles down a bit, but it never really sounds right, you know? Could it be the accelerator pedal module?

The accelerator pedal module is indeed a plausible cause, especially given the combined symptoms. A defective throttle position sensor within the module can lead to incorrect signals being sent to the engine control unit, resulting in poor starting and increased fuel consumption. I would recommend having a workshop perform a diagnostic check.

Thanks for the advice. I took it to a mechanic, and you were spot on. Defective accelerator pedal module it was. Got it replaced for 205€ and it seems to have sorted the issues out.
