Focus AdBlue System Error

My 2015 Ford Focus diesel has an AdBlue problem. The dashboard shows a constant error, and diagnostics confirm an AdBlue issue. The engine won't start, thinking the AdBlue tank is empty despite refills. Could a faulty AdBlue output from the tank to the dosing unit be the cause? Has anyone else seen this?

Summary of the thread

A 2015 Ford Focus diesel is experiencing an AdBlue system error, with the dashboard indicating the tank is empty despite refills, preventing the engine from starting. The issue may stem from a faulty AdBlue output from the tank to the dosing unit, possibly due to a malfunctioning pump or a blockage in the lines. The error code P20E8 suggests a problem with the AdBlue delivery system, and professional diagnosis and repair are recommended to resolve the issue.

The 'tank empty' error and no-start strongly suggest an AdBlue delivery problem. A faulty level sensor is possible, but with 249388 km on your 2015 diesel Focus, a blockage or failure in the AdBlue pump or lines to the injector is more likely. Has the system been regularly maintained? Any previous emissions control issues? What's the error code?

AdBlue system maintenance has been neglected. No prior emissions control problems, just followed service intervals. The error code is around 'P20E8 Reductant Injection Valve Circuit Range/Performance'. Does this confirm the AdBlue pump or line failure?

That P20E8 code reinforces the suspicion of a malfunctioning AdBlue delivery system. Given the code and your description, I'd lean towards a problem with the AdBlue pump or a blockage in the lines. You could try diagnosing it yourself, but cleaning or replacing the pump/lines can be tricky and requires specialized tools. A complete failure will leave you stranded, so I recommend a qualified workshop for diagnosis and repair. It could be a straightforward fix, but better safe than sorry.

Thanks for the advice. I'll take the Ford Focus to a professional. Hopefully, the repair won't exceed 250€. I will post the final diagnosis and resolution for others with similar AdBlue issues. Thanks again!
